What was the last wedding you went to? Were you in the wedding?
The last wedding I went to was a LONG time ago. I was 15 (2001) years old and it was my favourite cousin, Nathalie's wedding. She married this wonderful Greek guy named John and they had the most exquisite wedding. It was very chaotic at first because there were SO many people. For those of you who have seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, know what I'm talking about. It was an awful lot like that.
I was a bridesmaid and I loved it. Originally my cousin wanted me to be a flower girl at her wedding but, I grew up and she got married later than she had planned. I was so happy to be a bridesmaid.
I think she was a beautiful bride. I remember when all the bridesmaids and the bride were getting our hair done at the hair dresser. I took one look at Nat with her hair and viel all put together so beautifully, and I just started to cry. It snowballed. We were all a mess. I believe there were 6 brides maids and my aunt (Nat's mom). It wasn't the most pleasant scene and I'm sure the hairdressers all felt increibley awkward.
I think Nat and John make a beautiful couple. Once the wedding was all over and they were busy sending out all the thank you cards, I recieved this in the mail:
I thought that was nice. Of course she was obligated to write that, but it still made me happy!!! :-)
How many jobs have you had in the past five years? Where and what did you do?
Submitted by M.
Two. Both in retail. I worked at Reitmans for about 3 years and H&M (Hennes and Mauritz) for about 6 months.
Reitmans was definately not my type of clothing. They try to focus more on age 35 and up. But occassionally they would get some nice things and I had a 50% discount. The girls I worke with were all amazing. And my boss Connie was one of the most incredible women I've met. Eventually she quit and started managing at H&M.
I quit Reitmans shortly after Connie did so that I could work for her again. She was still great, but it was such a different atmosphere. The girls were catty and there were lots of cliques. I got along well with everyone. But they were all so immature, it was like I was back in highschool. The other managers were all right but the store was so big and I worked in the kids department, and Connie worked in womens. So I didn't see her much. That was partially the reason I quit there. Also, the people were getting to me, constantly customers would complain about the other workers (we were told to let the customer help themselves and we were to focus on folding, hanging clothes and cash), I was getting lousy shifts, and school started getting quite stressful, especially since it was on the othe side of the city from where i went to school and where I lived.
So i began focuing on school and havent worked since December. I'm starting a new job on September 4th out in British Columbia at Panorama Resort. I'm pretty excited about that. Also, I won't be going back to school this year. I'll go back next September.
What would you consider to be your 15 minutes of fame so far in life?
It wasn't quite 15 minutes.. but I was in a pizza commercial when I was ten. With my brother. All we had to do was eat pizza. It was awesome.
What will you remember most about this summer?
It's not a very good memory but I will always remember Wayne leaving. I cried a lot about it yesterday (when he left). Watched his plane take off and i thought i was going to lose my mind. But today has been better. I still don't know if I should go or not. To BC i mean.
But the good memories of this summer will be the last few days we spent together.
Friday, we stayed at his place and his whole family was there (both sets of grand parents, his parents) and my mom came. It was nice that she finally got to meet the family. We got lots of nice pics. One f us with his grand parents (paternal) and a oup shot of everyone and one with me wayne and my little mother (5 feet tall .. lol)
We went to my family reunion the following day and that was nice. He met myentire extended family on my mother's side. He got alng well with everyone and my pcky cousin totally approved of him. So she neer gave him "the speech". We didn't get any pictures beause my camera had died the night before.
Sunday we did a lot of errands and said good bye to Waynes mom. She was going away on a trip for a week. Nothing really special that day. We just sat around and had a few drinks, watched a few movies, held each other.
Monday was Wayne's birthday, and his last full day in London. That was a great day. We sstill had a lot of shopping to do. So I bought him a shirt and a hiking backpack, then I took, him, his little brother mark and my little brother ben out for dinner to Jack Astors. It was great. Then we went to Marks hockey game with all of waynes grand parents and his parents. I had a good chat with Waynes grandmother about knitting and crocheting. It was nice.. then we went home to Waynes and we stayed up all night talking about him leaving and having a very long goodbye night. I cried.. a lot.
Tuesday was the day wayne left. It was hard, like I said. But I'm actually doing a lot better today.
What was your favorite road-trip of all time?
Submitted by bodhibound.
This is the "fattest" road trip ever really.. I'm sure you're wondering, "How could a road trip be fat?" Well, let me tell you.. My dad asked me to map out a road trip for myself, him and my brother. We've gone on a road trip practically every summer but I'd never actually been the one to plan it out.
I was so excited and I knew exactly where I wanted to go. I planned it and timed it carefully so we could hit all the best restaurants with the best poutines (for those of you who aren't Canadian, you can find out what a poutine is here)
It ended up being such a great trip in more ways than just getting the fat I wanted. We started out at home (London Ontario) and drove up the 401 to Toronto and stayed downtown for a few nights and caught Mamma Mia at The Royal Alexandre Theatre and the next afternoon caught a Blue Jays game (baseball). Then went to the Hockey Hall of Fame and got some pictures with the Stanley Cup. The next day we went to the Toronto Zoo.
We got back on the road and headed up to Kingston and ad some more poutine. (Yum) And toured the festivals that were taking place at that time. We didn't stay there for long.
We went to Ottawa and went white water rafting and immediately headed up to Mont Tremblant. Its gorgeous there. We rode the gondola up to the top of the mountain and finally (the last poutine destination) had lunch at Le Chalet Du Smoked Meat.
It was an amazing trip. The most random way to plan a vacation but it was well worth it! :-)
Which saying do you believe to be true, but just can't seem to follow?
Submitted by Maxvan.
I stole a saying from a popular movie, Empire Records.
I always say, "Don't regret the things you've done, but those you did not do" (quoted by "Lucas")
I believe this to be true. But, I am a regretter, and always regret everything ..
What's your favorite card game?
Euchre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It reminds me of really fun times in high school. All of my friends and I scheduled our spare period for the same time. Everyday we'd get massive Euchre tournaments going and it was awesome!! I think there were about 20 of us every day playing euchre. I got to be pretty good at it. There ended up being under cover hall monitors to make sure there was no under the table gambling going on (which there never really was).. but that was ok.. it just meant an extra head at the euchre table!!
I also love poker. For some reason guys always underestimate me.. so I end up taking all their money! Its a wonderful thing!!!

What's the best practical joke you've pulled or had pulled on you?
Submitted by Mike Schwartz.
When I was a lot younger (11 or 12) I thought it would be funny to fill all the oreos with toothpaste and leave them out for my brother to eat. I wanted to make sure I got him so I didn't leave one orea un-toothpasted.. I then proceeded to leave them out on the counter so that they would be the first thing he saw and would eat them.
I had gone to a friends that afternoon and wouldn't have been home to witness his reaction but I knew I'd hear all about it when I got home. Which I did, I heard ALLL about it when I got home.
My dad has an office in the basement because he doesn't want to commute to work in Toronto on a daily basis. At lunch time he had gone up for a bite to eat and ate a full row of the oreos. I couldn't believe it! He asked me when they came out with mint oreos (they hadn't at the time). I then went on to tell him what I had done. I'm glad he thought it was funny. I was actually quite scared that I'd get in trouble. I'm also glad it didnt make him sick.. because he ate a LOT of toothpaste.
Other than that I've never really tried to pull a practical joke on anyone. I'm not much of a prankster.
